Frequently Asked Questions
Our Clients
How long does it take to complete the online auction process?
Depending on the size of the home and density of items, it usually takes our team 2-5 days to complete the cleanout. Sale prep takes a few more days and then the sale will launch and run for approximately 10 days. The pick-up day for the auction takes place about week later leaving the home cleared out and clean.
Does Hand N Hand charge a percentage of the profit of online auctions and estate sales?
Hand N Hand is a one of a kind organization that does not charge a percentage of anything sold at an estate sale or online auction. It is our way of giving back to seniors. We do have to pay our staff, so we only charge to compensate for their hours.
How many items do I need to have to sell in order to quality for an online auction?
In order to insure a successful auction, we usually require a minimum of 100 “lots” that can sell for $35 or more.
How does your team know what items the family is keeping?
We work with our seniors and their families to tag any items that will not be sold in the online auction or estate sale.
What happens to items that do not sell?
We donate any items not sold to The Salvation Army. Please visit their website to discover the difference they make in our Reno and Sparks community: Reno Corps
Our Buyers
What is the difference between a garage sale and an estate sale?
A garage sale typically only offers items that are lower quality and unwanted. At an estate sale, you have the opportunity to find treasures as small as a kitchen gadget you have been wanting to antiques worth thousands of dollars.
Can I haggle at an in-person estate sale?
Most items at our larger in-person estate sales are pre-priced. These prices will drop by a percentage every day of the sale. Prices of items sold at our “Mini Estate Sales” held on online auction pick-up days can be negotiated.
Can I bring my own bags to an estate sale?
We do not allow bags to be brought to our estate sales. Baskets are provided onsite.
What payment methods do you accept at in-person estate sales?
We accept cash, debit, or credit cards.
How does the CTBids online auction process work?
CTBids is designed to replicate a live auction. When bids are placed near the close of an item, extra time is added to allow all bidders a chance to win the item. If identical bids are placed on an item, the first person to place their bid will be awarded the item. To start bidding, set up your account at https://ctbids.com/estate-sales/reno-nv/.
Do you offer shipping?
Some lots purchased in our online auctions can be shipped. We do not ship breakable or large items.
Do you accept returns?
All sales are final.
